Magpie Tales ~ A Sting Among The Dandelions

Jamie Wyeth, Lighthouse Dandelions

Jamie Wyeth, Lighthouse Dandelions

When I was in love all walls were golden
And dandelions oozed and swooned
Milk sap in abandon
Sunlight shone and shaded those that needed shade
And she, she danced barefoot, twirled among the blooms of May

Then came the wasp that stung, a last dying wish to maim
As the yellow curled upon the leaves
And peeled off the walls

I was not there when he plucked out the sting
And kissed her toes better
One by one
So really
The wasp stung me

Cleopatra, as the accomplished politician and famed beauty would add an exotic flavour to my evening, I think, tonight. Would she be surprised to learn of her status in the world these days, thousands of years after her reign? Probably not. I would fight not to succumb to her charm, but I fear her beauty and passion would conquer me all too easily. And what Cleopatra does not know about love is not worth knowing. Cleopatra’s passion has its place at my dinner table, anytime! Or breakfast table…
